Appellation: AOC Grand Cru Corton Charlemagne (Burgundy region)
Grapes: Chardonnay (100%)
Aromatics: White flowers, almonds, lemon and rich buttery notes. This wine is oaky yet elegant.
Palate: Incredible power and length, structured yet approachable, with depth and complexity. Notes of white fruits and red apple, with a salty and mineral finish. This wine demands patience and requires five to eight years to fully express itself.
About the wine: Produced by 40-year-old vines producing 800 bottles a year. The vineyard is located in the small village of Pernand Vergelesses, also known as Charlemagne. The Corton Charlemagne is one of the six Grands Crus of the Côte de Beaune, and is recognised as one of the best white wine regions in the world. This Grand Cru will need a long aging and resting time in order to reach its full potential.
When to drink: Drink now or in the next 5 to 20 years after vintage.
Service: 12 to 14 degrees. Large Burgundy glass.
