Appellation: Muscadet Coteaux de la Loire (Loire region)

 

Grapes: Melon de Bourgogne (100%)

 

Farming: Organic (certified)

 

Aromatics:  White flowers, iodine sea character, apricot and lemon notes.

 

Palate: Bone-dry, textured and crisp, aromas of fresh apricot, white peach, lemon and a lovely dry mineral finish. Textbook Muscadet!

 

About the wine: Vineyards mostly situated around the towns of Ligne and Udon (Lesser known Coteaux d’Ancenis Muscadet’s sub-region) on terroirs of mica schists and greenstone with decomposed volcanic material. Hand harvested. Grapes are vinified separately based on terroir, natural yeast fermentation. No malolactic fermentation. Minimal intervention in the cellar, on lees ageing in glass-lined concrete tanks (about 6 months) with light filtration and low sulphur added.

 

When to drink: Drink now or in the next 2-3 years.

 

Service: 10 to 12 degrees C.

 

Food match: Fresh oysters, mussels, shrimp, salmon or chicken.
