Domaine Nudant Ladoix-Serigny, Burgundy Sustainable Established in the 15th century, Domaine Nudant is located in Ladoix-Serigny. Fast forward to 2003, when Guillaume Nudant spearheaded a new generation making his debut for the Domaine. Today he has 16 hectares of vines in his care, spreading across the Côte de Beaune and Côte de Nuits including prestigious terroir such as Grand Crus Corton-Charlemagne, Corton-Bressandes, Echezeaux, along with several Premiers Cru on the hill of Corton; Aloxe Corton “Les Valozières”, “La Coutière” or the monopole “Clos de la Boulotte”. In Ladoix near the cellar, they produce Ladoix village, Ladoix 1er cru “Les Gréchons”, “Les Buis”, “La Corvée”. Finally they also farm vineyards in Nuits-Saint-Georges, Vosne Romanée, Volnay 1er cru “Les Santenots”, Puligny-Montrachet with the 1er cru “Les Folatières”, as well as a beautiful Meursault village. Phew! Young Guillaume has carved out his niche, following winemaking and viticultural practices to shine a light on the incredible terroir he is now the custodian of. This includes grating selection, yield control, regular ploughing of the vines, organic composting, copper treatments and sustainable farming without the use of herbicides. Discovering these wines is indeed a journey through Burgundy. They are impressive, honest expressions of place that continue to evolve in the bottle, whilst being approachable and moreish on release. Ladoix 1er Cru “Les Buis” Delicious Ladoix, bright with high precision and vibrancy. Made from a small 0.98 hectare, with 40 year old vineyard. This wine has a delicate nose with aromas of red fruits such as blackcurrants and cherries. Elegant aromatics, with a hint of earthiness. Limited production of approx. 5 500 bottles every year. With careful cellaring, enjoy up to 10 years old. Vosne Romanee From 0.94 hectares, located in the small village of Vosne-Romanée, with old vines that are more than 50 years. Made of low yield (37 hectoliters), this Pinot expresses itself beautifully with an intense colour and a nose made up of dark berries such as blackberries and blueberries. Powerful and still full of finesse, you will also get a touch of spice thanks to 20% new oak on the finish. Decant for an hour in its youth before enjoying, alternatively it will develop for 15 years. Volnay 1er Cru Les Santenots (vine leased) Les Santenots vineyard is located in the southern part of Volnay, near the village of Meursault. The particular structure of the soil (limestone, gravel and marl) makes Les Santenots a very aromatic wine, full of blackberries, raspberries and subtle notes of oak. It’s an elegant wine, delicately complex and concentrated at the same time. Meursault (vine leased) Citrusy, with subtle notes of spice and vanilla. On the palate, it shows a deep sense of place through purity, minerality and a finer texture if compared to most super creamy Meursault. Impressive length and finish. • Domaine Labranche Laffont | Madiran & Pacherenc du Vic-Bilh | Mosaique Wines

Domaine Labranche Laffont is living proof that a tannic beast can be tamed by a woman’s touch. The wines of Madiran are often thought of as robust, with the Tannat grape throwing its significant weight around the palate. Christine Dupuy was a game changer in the region. Domaine Labranche Laffont Madiran & Pacherenc du Vic Bilh, South-West France Organic certified Domaine Labranche Laffont is living proof that a tannic beast can be tamed by a woman’s touch. The wines of Madiran are often thought of as robust, with the Tannat grape throwing its significant weight around the palate. Enter Christine Dupuy, a game changer in the region, with a mission to fight the Tannat stereotype. Dupuy took over Domaine Labranche Laffont in 1993, becoming the youngest female winemaker in the region. The vineyard, located in the small commune of Maumusson-Laguian, has grown from 6 to 20 hectares under Dupuy’s guidance, with organically grown native varieties- including Tannat, Gros Manseng and Petit Manseng as well as Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. The estate is known as the keeper of hidden gems, as Christine is one of two winemakers in Madiran to own Tannat vines that date back to the pre-phylloxera era at the end of the 19th century (1870's). Trust us; they are a big, gnarly deal. The vines benefit from the silty clay and limestone soils, along with south - southeast facing, gentle hillsides around the domaine. The vineyard is certified 'ecocert', with Christine working mostly by hand in the vineyard. Soils are ploughed in Spring and Autumn; vines are fertilised using compost in the Autumn, and grass is left to grow between every second vine. Grapes are hand-harvested at perfect ripeness, before being sorted and de-stemmed. Fermentation is conducted in a temperature controlled vat with gentle pumping over for the reds. Malolactic and ageing occurs in old barrel, with a focus on minimal sulphites and lightly filtered (unfined) bottling. The red Madiran is deep, with aromas of spices, leather, and dark chocolate. The palate brings ripe, soft fruits and liquorice, and an elegant framework with fine tannins. It’s safe to say Dupuy has nailed her aim to produce approachable, elegant Tannat. These wines, much like their maker, have a natural ability to charm and leave you with a smile. • Clotilde Davenne | Chablis | Mosaique Wines

In 1989, Davenne's journey in Chablis started, working for one of the region's star producers during 17 years, she gained an intimate knowledge of Chablis unique terroir and understanding of vintage styles. Then in 2005, Davenne set off on her own path to producing fantastic Chablis wines. clotilde davenne Chablis, Burgundy Organic non-certified Meeting Clotilde Davenne and trying all her wines from the Petit Chablis to her best Grand Cru vineyards made things very clear: she knows what she is doing. Clotilde was not from a wine family; her father was a humble farmer near the Morvan mountains. She learned how to make wine at school in 1986 and later travelled to California for vintage. In 1989, Davenne's journey in Chablis started, working for one of the region's star producers: Jean-Marc Brocard. During a incredible 17 years with mentor Brocard, she gained an intimate knowledge of unique terroir and understanding of vintage styles. Then in 2005, Davenne set off on her own path, starting with the 1.9-hectare plot of Petit Chablis called “Les Temps Perdu” (which mean the lost time). Despite locals telling her that this land was a waste of time, Davenne knew this vineyard had potential. The vines were lying on Kimmeridgian soils just like AOC Chablis terroir, only called “Petit” because of its exposition to the North. With growing self confidence, she started putting together a patchwork of vineyard expressing different grapes and terroirs, one plot of land at a time. It now includes a mosaic of beautiful vineyards: Bourgogne AOC, Petit Chablis, Chablis, Chablis 1er Cru (Vaucoupin, Montmains, Fourchaume, Vaillons) and Chablis Grand Cru (Bougros, Les Clos, Blanchots), as well as 100 year old Sauvignon Blanc from Saint-Bris and Pinot Noir from Irancy. Her gamble paid off, becoming one of Chablis rising stars thanks to her hard work and the purity of her wines. Clotilde was hugely honoured to be included in Jancis Robinson and Hugh Johnson 's "The World Atlas of Wine" for one of her best vineyards: Montmains 1er Cru Chablis. Now Davenne's 40 year old Chablis vines are located in the village of Courgis, south of Chablis. The vineyard is sheltered from winds, on a steep slope of Kimmeridgian with soil, peppered with fossilised oysters from when the sea covered the Paris basin150 million years ago. Clotilde farms her vineyard naturally, without the use of chemicals, with almost all of her production is harvested by hand. You won't find any oak barrel in her cellars however, as Clotilde is a big believer of stainless steel vinification for her Chablis, focusing on purity and terroir expression. All Davenne's wines undergo malolactic fermentation for complexity, with use of the lunar calendar for racking and bottling, then light filtration. The wines of Clos de Gamot are the humble benchmark of Malbec from this area, with the Jouffreau family passing winemaking traditions from father to son since 1610. The wines of Clos de Gamot are the humble benchmark of Malbec from this area, with the Jouffreau family passing winemaking traditions from father to son since 1610. There have been more than a few bumps along the way, yet the Jouffreau's had remained true to their vines, never abandoning their traditional grapes for trends and continuing to bottle wines when others in the region had defaulted. The philosophy of the Jouffreau family is simple: be good farmers. give things time, observe nature, be respectful. This approach has seen vines ageing back to 1885 still producing intense, great fruit. The vineyard is located on the second and third of the Lot river's terraces, composed of pebbles, gravel, and quartz mixed with alluvium of the Lot. With no use of herbicide, the workload on the vineyard is enormous. From a winemaking perspective, grapes are sorted when they join the cellar. Each plot is vinified separately, with gentle pumping over to keep a harmonious structure. Wine is aged for 18 to 24 months in old oak pungent with some 40 years old foudre (70hl and 100hl). Jean Jouffreau’s daughters and his son-in-law Yves Hermann have continued to lovingly care for the family vines, with Yves' son now joining the legacy. The tradition continues, with the focus on bottle maturation remaining. “A wine, like a person,” says Yves, “should have a personal story to tell over time.” With the range of vintages the estate offers, it is possible for consumers to affordably capture history in a glass. We’ll drink to that! Clos de Gamot is vibrant. Violet notes lead, with pure and fresh dark fruits, and approachable crunchy tannins. Skillful use of oak rounds out the package, with a long, persistent finish. Produced only for outstanding vintage, the Cuvee des Vignes Centenaires is made from +100 years old vines. After careful decanting, notes of plum abound, with generous concentrated ripe black fruits and subtle leather aromas. A wine to induce goosebumps on first sip. Old vintages from Gamot are bucket list wines. Older vintages such as 1978, 1988, 1990 are outstanding. The ability of Clos de Gamot wines to age and transform over time is exceptional.
