2022 Domaine Cruchandeau Bourgogne Hautes Cotes de Nuits 'Vieilles Vignes' white

Appellation: Hautes Côtes de Nuits (Burgundy region) 

 

Style: White

 

Terroir: White marl and clay. This single vineyard is located a few kilometers from Nuits Saint Georges, on a steep slope facing south/south-west in the village of Villars Fontaine next to ‘Les Jiromées’ lieu dit, at an altitude of around 380 meters.

 

Grape: Chardonnay (100%) 

 

Farming: Organic (not certified)

 

Aromatics: Beautiful and subtle nose, with classic white Burgundy personality, fresh white fruits, white flowers combined elegantly with oak character and spices. This is absolutely stunning!

 

Palate: The texture is incredibly pure and deep with again notes of white and typical Burgundy Chardonnay mouthfeel of the highest class here. Great length too. This Hautes Cotes de Nuits Blanc has not to be shy with some of the Cote de Beaune whites. Really exciting wines who confirm the interest we have for Hautes Cotes de Nuits Blanc which are giving better and better results with warmer weather.   

 

About the wine: 1 hectare, 50 years old vines, classic Hautes Cotes low density, high vines trellising and wide planted. An average of 3,000 bottles are produced each year. The grapes are hand harvested, sorted. Traditional vinification with natural yeasts fermentation, cold maceration on skins for approx. 24 hours and then pressing. Fermentation partialy in barrels (50%) and partly in vats. The wine is aged for 10 months on lees (50% in barrels, 50% in vats) Bottled with no fining and a light filtration.

 

When to drink: Ready to drink now or in the next 4-5 years after vintage.

 

Service: 12 degrees, Chardonnay glass.

 

Food match: Fish dishes with sauce, poultry with cream.
