Appellation: AOC Madiran (South-West France region)
Terroir: Clay and limestone
Grapes: Tannat (100%)
Farming: Organic (certified)
Aromatics: Intensely aromatic, featuring dark fruit, bramble, black plum, eucalyptus, and earthy undertones.
Palate: Full-bodied and robust. It shows concentrated red and black berries, dark chocolate, leather, and hints of spice. The tannins are powerful, firm, and "chewy," yet well-coated and elegant due to the vine age.
About the wine: This cuvée is a rare find, as Labranche-Laffont is one of only two growers in the Madiran appellation with pre-phylloxera plantings dating back to the late 19th century. Hand harvest Tannat and low yield. The wines are fermented with natural yeast in tanks and aged in french oak barrels, with 20% new oak. Malolactic fermentation in barrel. This wine is as good as some of the best left bank Grand Cru Classée try for yourself!
When to drink: Drink now or in the next 15-20 years after vintage.
Service: 14 to 15 degrees C. We recommend decanting at least for 1 hour and drink in Bordeaux glass.
Food match: Rich red meats, game (venison), and aged cheeses.
