2019 Domaine Labranche Laffont, AOC Madiran 'Vieilles Vignes’

Appellation: AOC Madiran (South-West France region)

Terroir: Clay and limestone

Grapes: Tannat (100%)

Farming: Organic (certified)

Aromatics: Dark fruits, prune and blackberries with lovely toasted oak notes, black choloclate and tobacco.

Palate: Powerfull wine with plenty of structure yet lots of elegance in its own style. Like on the nose more balckberries and prune, this is deep and generous. The tannins are robust at first yet they come together as the wines open up and as you grab you next bite of steak! Yes we recommend eating with this wine it make the experience even nicer.

About the wine: 50-60 years old vines, hand harvest Tannat and low yield 38 hl per hectare. The wines are fermented with natural yeast in tanks and aged 12 months in french oak barrels, with 20% new oak. Malolactic fermentation in barrel. Then an additional 18 months ageing in concrete tanks. This wine is as good as some of the best left bank Grand Cru Classée try for yourself!

When to drink: Drink now or in the next 10-15 years after vintage.

Service: 14 to 15 degrees C. We recommend decanting at least for 1 hour and drink in Bordeaux glass.

Food match: Duck confit, stewed meat in red wine sauce, foie gras, or cassoulet
