Soil: This 1er Cru overlooks the Lavières and is located next to Aux Vergelesses. The earth is made up of sandy calcareous clay, whereas the top of the hill contains oolitic ferruginous limestone. It is one of the village’s finest and rarest 1er Cru.

Aromatics: Elegant and earthy, classic Burgundy nose, with subtle oak spices notes. Beautiful finesse and nuances for this wine, as charming as other more famous location of the Cote de Nuits.
Palate: Generous medium bodied 1er Cru, black berries, black cherries, nice density mid palate, savory with lovely spices. This is one of the most classic red Burgundy 1er Cru from Chenu and also the most limited. A must try for all red Burgundy lovers!
About the wine: 65 years old vines, 10,000 vines per hectare. An average of 1,200 bottles are produced each year. The grapes are hand harvested, sorted and destemmed, traditional vinification with natural yeasts fermentation, 6 days cold maceration. 10 days cuvaison. Aging for 12 months in old French oak barrels (10% new oak, cooper: Rousseau) Bottled with no fining and no filtration.
When to drink: Ready to drink now or in the next 8-10 years after vintage.
Service: 14 degrees, Pinot Noir glass.
Food match: Boeuf bourguignon, roasted red meat with mushroom sauce.
