Aromatics: Lifted and perfumed Saint Emilion, bursting with scents of fresh red berries, wild strawberries, redcurrants, and dark cherries. Smoky, earthy and spicy notes from the ageing and from the Cabernet Franc.
Palate: A harmonious wine, with pure fruit (red berries, black cherry), spices. This is an approchable and charming full-bodied red. A lovely Saint-Emilion Grand Cru, combining structure and elegance. This cuvée represent incredible value and is punching way above its price point.
About the wine: 6,000 to 8,000 vines per hectare. Average age of the vineyard 15 years old. Thanks to soil analysis and detailed farming they are doing a detailed plot selections at harvest from 10 to 20 years old vines to compose this second wine. These same plots after 20 years enter the Grand Vin. Manual harvest into crates with 5 consecutives sorting. Pumping overs and gentle punching during the fermentation and maceration. Ageing 50% barrels, 50% Vats, the wine is bottled 21 months after the harvest.
When to drink: Aging potential, decant and drink now or 5-6 years after vintage.
Service: 15 to 16 degrees C in Bordeaux glass.
Food match: Grilled meat or grilled tuna, beef stew or a quality home made burger.
