This wine illustrate how Pomerol is for us one of the greatest red wine region in France and how with age Merlot from Pomerol can equal in quality to some of the finest Burgundy Pinot Noir. Saying this, Burgundy lover may also love this wine.

Palate: Beautiful structure and volume, we love its vibrany, its true Pomerol elegance. The balance and lengh is impressive, the palate is filled with fresh black berries, cherries and plums. The nuances and depth of flavours without never overpowering is pure finesse. This is a wine we want to drink now. Real show stopper when I tasted this vintage in a long line up from the estate.

About the wine: For us 2016 is one of Bordeaux greatest vintage and this Gombaude-Guillot is a great reflexion of the vintage and the talent from this producer. Average age of the vines 40 years. The grapes are harvested by hand, sorted, de-stemmed and lightly crushed. The wine undergoes natural fermentation in temperature-controlled concrete and stainless steel cuves for 3-4 weeks. Regular pumpovers at the beginning of fermentation (2-4 times a day). The wine is aged for 12 months in old french oak barrel, concrete tanks and clay amphoras. This wine is unfined, unfiltred. Low sulphur.

When to drink: Decant for 30-45 min and drink now or 6-8 years after vintage.
