Appellation: AOC Chignin Bergeron (Savoie region)
Grape: Bergeron (aka. Roussanne)
Terroir: Clay and loam. Lieu dit “Les Chateaux” in the town of Chignin (Cru Savoie). The vineyard was planted at a high density of 8000 vines per hectare in 2006 on a South-West facing 40% slope with only 15 centimeters of earth before the mother rock.
Farming: Organic, Biodynamic certified
Aromatics: Candied lemon, ripe apricot and peach, cardamom spice and brioche yeasty notes as well as jasmin and smoky mineral character.
Palate: Generous and fleshy on the palate, with a beautiful texture. Flavour of stone fruits and ripe pears with a creamy, elegant and mineral finish. One of Adrien Berlioz best Chignin Bergeron!
About the wine: The grapes are harvested by hand and transported in small boxes to ensure they arrive in optimal quality. In the winery, the grapes are then slowly pressed (whole bunch) for 6 hours, and vinified by gravity before natural fermentation. The wine is then aged in stainless steel tanks.
When to drink: Drink now or in the next 5-6 years.
Service: 10 to 12 degrees C.
Food match: Roast chicken, grilled fish in sauce or Alpine cheese.
