Soil: Ancient sandy alluvial soils with pebbles ‘galets roulés (Porcellese area, selection massage bush vines planted in 1966, low yield)

 

Grapes: Niellucciu (100%) aka. Sangiovese

 

Farming: Organic certified

 

Aromatics: Earthy and deep, with ripe black fruits, dry herbs, smoky character and peppery notes.

 

Palate: Powerful and dense wine, with savory texture, ripe black fruits. Generous yet elegant tannins and good structure with impressive depth and length. 

 

About the wine: Porcellese single vineyard (3.5 hectares) is the first vineyard Nicolas took over. Low yield 25hl per hectare. Hand harvested in 300 kg boxes, the grapes are destemmed and moved to a concrete tank. After a cold pre fermentation for 48 hours fermentation start. Light daily pumping over, infusion style. Aging for 24 months in tanks and oak barrels, bottled without fining or filtration. Incredible depth, one of the best Niellucciu I tasted!

 

When to drink: Ready to drink now or after 8-10 years.

 

Service: 14 degrees, decanter for 30 min to 1 hour.

 

Food match: Stew, roasted lamb and herbs or game
