Appellation: Patrimonio (Corsica region)
Colour/Style: Red
Soil: Clay and limestone (Carcu area North-East facing)
Grapes: Niellucciu (100%) aka. Sangiovese
Farming: Organic certified
Aromatics: Aromas of ripe blackberries, wild plums, and tangy red fruits, lifted by super-floral notes (violets, peonies, and plum blossoms) alongside a gentle peppery or sweetly spiced edge.
Palate: Fresh, silky, and elegant with a beautiful brightness. Flavours lean into crunchy red and dark berries (such as morello cherry, mulberry, and cranberry) with a signature touch of savory Corsican minerality and a vibrant, energetic finish. This is the perfect entry point to Mariotti-Bindi red and expression of Niellucciu from the Patrimonio terroir.
About the wine: Carcu vineyard was planted in 1970, 1995 and 2009. Cantina Di Torra red means the cellar of the bull in Corsican. Hand harvested in 300 liters boxe, the grapes are deststeemed and go in concrete tanks, then they do a cold pre-fermentation for 48 hours. Fermentation starts naturally with indigenous yeast, with maceration involving gentle daily pumping over. Aging in stainless steel tanks for about 6 months, bottled without fining or filtration. This is a delicious, approchable and charming Corsican red thanks to a shorter maceration.
When to drink: Ready to drink now, potential for aging 4 to 6 years.
Service: 14 degrees. We recommend decanting this wine for 30 min.
Food match: A charcuterie platter, steak frites, a pizza, or a selection of fresh soft and hard cheese.
